Conference ID: NIP-EN-20200619
Time: Beijing time June 19, 2020, 2:00pm-3:25pm
Note: The recent Chinese meeting overview can be read at https://community.nebulas.io/d/762-chinese-nodes-meeting-on-june-18
Participants:
Member of Nebulas Foundation: founder Hitters, Iris, Larry, Becky, etc. Node operators Dustin K (natoshi), StackOfStake, MarkAu.
Background:
After the previous governance cycle, the Nebulas Foundation and Technical commitee has begun more consistent meetings with node operators discussing how to improve the Node program, decentralization and review of proposals.
Goal:
Primary goal of this meeting was to discuss the current three new proposals on Go.Nebulas.
Proposals and position:
1. Proposal Winners And Node Operators Incentive NIP 382 - https://go.nebulas.io/proposal/382
This proposal is to boost participation between node operators and proposal creators by rewarding them with $NAX. The current proposal wants to distribute rewards to 5 proposal creators and 5 node operators (10 in all) utilizing a random selection process and/or the activity of node operators.
The consensus during the meeting believes that node operators and proposal creators should be incentived however, the current proposal not detailed enough and requires specifics for a successful project. The NTC will try to communicate with the proposer to try and create a more detailed proposal.
2. dStaking NAX in go.nebulas, and let NAX as a reward option - https://community.nebulas.io/d/760-my-1st-proposal-dstaking-nax-in-go-nebulas-and-let-nax-as-a-reward-option
This initial pre-proposal created by Nebulas founder Hitters Xu wants to have $NAX as a payment option for those that complete Go.Nebulas projects giving $NAX an additional use-case within the ecosystem.
Those participating in the meeting agree that $NAX should be incorporated into Go.Nebulas and to be used for future promotional projects as well.
3. Create a Wrapped version of NAS on Ethereum allowing for more liquidity, interoperability & DeFi. NIP 403 - https://go.nebulas.io/proposal/403
The primary purpose of this proposal is to enable the first steps of cross-chain interoperability within the Nebulas and Ethereum ecosystem via a wrapped version of the NAS asset. This will allow for NAS holders to have access to the wide array of available DeFi and other services on Ethereum.
During the meeting, all agreed that the features Ethereum has to offer is advantageous for Nebulas, however, there was a discussion about the concerns of loosing Nebulas holders to the Ethereum network which is a concern. It was addressed that however Nebulas should focus it’s time on it’s core feature and by using Ethereum as a current solution may be a good option.
Nebulas founder Hitters Xu took this time to talk more about Nebulas’ core features and how they must adopt to the expanding blockchain ecosystem with a proposition that the core concept of Nebulas Rank may need to be revisited to be more of a ranking system for networks such as IPFS and data storage DLT projects vs simple transnational data such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
In addition, during this call, the node participants talked about how the current node ecosystem needs to be adjusted for further decentralization and financial distribution. Hitters Xu also talked about a new statistical data page for node profit is in the process of being developed and will be published in the near future.
All are welcome to propose improvements to the current node ecosystem via the community forum or via a official proposal on Go.Nebulas.io.
