Nebulas NOVA was been released on December 31, 2018 and completed a major upgrade on May 6th of this year ushering in the release of version 2.0.1. These improvements include interacting with the main network via the Nebulas Blockchain Runtime Environment (NBRE), integrating Nebulas Rank (NR) and the Developer Incentive Protocol (DIP) which supports on-chain rewards for smart contract developers.
After several months of testing and in order to serve Nebulas’ technological vision, stability and security of the blockchain, the Nebulas main network team has decided on improvements for NR and DIP. As a result, the architecture will be optimized and upgraded accordingly. The algorithmic improvements for NR and DIP will make the incentive system of the Nebulas ecosystem more efficient. In addition, we plan to upgrade the structure of the NBRE on the main network.
The entire upgrade optimization process will be carried out in stages. NBRE will be refactored in the near future to make it an independent service. During the upgrade period, support for NR and DIP will continue to be provided.
tldr; Algorithms for DIP and NR are being improved. NBRE will be upgraded as well. Nothing should change from the users perspective.
